A good part of the reason I started blogging was because I went to a history conference at a UT branch up between Dallas and Fort Worth and found that, contrary to belief, many well known academic historians have found community history projects to be invaluable because of their focus and details. Photos rated high. Photos with details rate high. Interviews with participants in events rated high. Interviews with older people rated high if you cover their experience and perspective.

No, no, no, no, no

No.  The fact that they want to put it to paper and vote on it before the public even gets wind of what the details are means they know we will hate it even more once we find out.  This is no way to pass laws or to represent constituents.

I’m represented by Tim Ryan, and I’ve already faxed & called his office this morning. He usually faces token opposition in his gerrymandered district. If he votes for this abomination I’m voting for his opponent even if it’s the Creature From the Black Lagoon. Throw the bums out. Vote Anti-Incumbent - that’s the real opposition party.

Good for you Dan.

I know you sometimes come over and post at Corrente, I'd love for you to encourage people there to realize that this isn't over yet. I watched the Senate session on CSPAN Friday, and a number of Democratic Senators were taking the time to rail against this bailout by explaining what had to be in it for them to even consider voting for it. Brian Dorgan, Tom Harkin, Jon Tester.

They are hearing from home - they know this is wildly unpopular, what I'm not sure they know as well as they ought to is that we grassroots Democrats are as up on all this as Barney Franks or Chris Dodd, and that there are other solutions out there.

Interestingly, Dorgan and Harkin were well aware of the commentary of people like Krugman and even of James Galbraith; clearly Democratic senators are reading, probably courtesy of their staff, material by economists.

Don't hesitate to call and email other Senators and Reps besides your own; they can use those calls as leverage against their own leadership.

Thanks Leah. In my experience reps aren't very interested in my opinion once they realize they don't represent me. I've signed Sanders' petition though.

Thanks, Thinking. Why just let American companies at the trough, eh?

Some of the Very people who are asking for bailouts control the Federal Reserve.

Well it they had a brain in their heads they would do like John F Kennedy did. At the risk of loosing their lives that is but they can't kill all of them can they? Putting control in the American peoples hands as apposed to the private sector who could care less about who goes down and how many. The private sector ( the very ones asking for bailouts now) caused the Great Depression on purpose and now the American people are suppose to bail them out?

NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT.

Here’s a look into who was involved in setting up the Federal Reserve in 1913.

* Rothschild Banks of London and Berlin
* Lazard Brothers Bank of Paris
* Israel Moses Sieff Banks of Italy
* Warburg Bank of Hamburg, Germany and Amsterdam
* Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York
* Lehman Brothers Bank of New York
* Goldman Sachs Bank of New York
* Chase Manhattan Bank of New York (Controlled By the Rockefeller Family Tree) Atinsy bit of history
